You have to love how well politicians lie, to make a sellout seem a good thing. Then there is the Politician that tells you how great it is to share such an open border, and how good of a friend you are, while at the same time killing tourism in your country, and putting the blame for their own incompetence onto your shoulders.

Hats off to both Conservative Cannon, our Foreign Affairs dufus, and Hilary Rodham Clinton, the US poster model for failed political hacks, for their stellar performance in announcing that the Great Lakes Water Treaty of 1909 will be renegotiated, as merely a way to update how we preserve the environment. 

“We have to update it to reflect new knowledge, new technologies and, unfortunately, new threats,” Clinton said.

“The rivers, the lakes, the streams, the watersheds along our boundary do not belong to one nation, they belong to all of us,” she said at celebrations overlooking the falls.

“The friendship between Canada and the United States is a model for the world,” said Cannon. ( CBC News )

Funny how Clinton makes that sly remark, about it not belonging to anyone, course the fact that it is her country who pollutes the lakes faster than one can say ‘defeated candidate’, and is the one who thinks we are a third world country,  doesn’t come into play, now does it?

After all it is her Government that is trying to steal the Northern Waters of Canada so they can legally send their warships through the passages, and their oil tankers, without meeting our tougher restrictions on pollution. Mind you, our lovely fair haired boy, Stevie, is doing everything he can, to reduce those restrictions, those protective services. After all, he’d like nothing better than to be the Governor of the 51st USA State.

And you have to love how they talk about free exchange of goods, through NAFTA and the cross border shopping, while it it is the USA who constantly tries to deny Canadian Industry a role in the US Market. Or how their new regulations, requiring anyone over 16 to have a passport in order to enter their land of plenty.

And our eager and willing stupe, Cannon, plays right into it, extolling the virtues of a country that has led the world to economic ruin, because of its greed. Course it is his same boss, that is allowing Mining Companies to dump toxic waste into our streams, so they can make huge profits. And too, in all fairness, so that Canada will be just like the United States, a dumping ground for polluters. After all, wouldn’t be fair to have pristeen lakes, clear and clean water, when our gentle giant of a neighbour has nothing but sludge and ooze in its lakes & rivers, from the same practice of dumping and pollution.

Now would it?

So, Stephen Harper has hinted, has made all the clucking sounds of a hen about to lay an egg, and tonight, I saw the first Election Ad courtesy of the Conservative Party. It nearly made me puke. To begin with, the man is staging the whole election call, instead of simply having the balls to go to the Governor General and call it. Instead he thinks he is some Hollywood Actor, playing coy with people, by calling in Jack Layton, then Stephane Dion, as if he is trying to find a way NOT to call the election.

It is a typical Republican tactic, now being used by Stevie. And frankly it is just one more reason why we need to elect ANY PARTY BUT HIS.

I am serious, this man is too close to the United States, and if Obama was to win, we’d really be in tough shape, because Obama is one of those flaming liberals, that the Republicans hate. Naturally our Stevie will too, given how he follows the Republican mind set, and agenda.

If he was a true leader, he wouldn’t be playing games. He would simply head over to the Governor General’s residence, ask for an election writ, and be done with it. Instead he wants to try and milk it, while already throwing out campaign ads, giving his party an unfair advantage. Yes, unfair because as an election hasn’t been called, the cost of those ads, won’t count in the advertising criteria we have when an election is called.

So ask yourself, is this the kind of conniving man you want leading you into the next four or so years?

One who by the way inherited a strong economy, that has slipped drastically due to his following the Bush Failed Policies of giving Big Business a free rein? Is this really what we want for Canada? To become the 51st State of the Failed Union of American States?

Truth is that Harper isn’t calling this election because Parliament doesn’t work. It is because in this upcoming session of Parliament he will have to answer for the Mulroney Bribe, have to answer for the Elections Canada case about his MIS USING ADVERTISING FUNDS, and then having individual candidates be COMPENSATED AT PUBLIC EXPENSE.

In short, he wants to try and fool everyone, before all the facts come out, before he is sent packing by the disgust people will have, for his stuffing of his own conservative pockets. Exactly what he pledged to NEVER DO. Naturally that should have been the tip off, because he has failed in every single campaign pledge he made. His government is the most secretive, the most hidden, least accessible, so yes, he wants an election now, before it all hits the fan.

I hope we are less gullible, than Americans, who seem to think John McCain is a true reformer, and not another George Bush.

You have to love George W. Bush. Seriously, the guy for nearly eight years has systematically dragged the United States into a Depression, has weakened the strength of most World Economies while engaging in invading nations on false pretexts, while ignoring the very basic civil rights that sets the Free World apart from nations like China. And here he is, once more spouting off, about Human Rights and the dedication of America to fighting it, while in Asia, while his own administration gets its first Kangaroo Court verdict against a captured prisoner.

Talk about Hypocrisy !

China is a communist nation, it uses American Technology to control it’s citizens, thanks in large part to the Bush Administration mantra of Free Trade. I mean how hypocritical it is, to lash out at them, while for nearly eight years he helped enslave Chinese Citizens. Bush’s Administration allowed for China to buy American Companies, that produce high end technology, and he cheers when American Industry move their operations to China, and sell to China the technology they need, to regulate, and control people.

I suppose he lives in some sort of bubble, and is oblivious to reality. Then too, is he really doing anything that we aren’t ourselves condoning? I mean we BUY the Chinese Goods that Industry foists on us. Aren’t we tacitly giving our leaders our approval to continue with programs that ship our jobs abroad, because we BUY foreign over DOMESTIC?

I mean let’s be honest here, isn’t what is happening at Gitmo and elsewhere, what we are allowing?

So holding prisoners in Gitmo, denying them legal council, using torture on them, is somehow not detaining political prisoners? I mean come on here George, those who being held in Gitmo weren’t found in the United States, but spirited to Gitmo from war zones in other countries. How long did it take before you allowed the Red Cross to visit them at Gitmo George? How is that protecting Human Rights?

Yet is it his fault, or ours, for not doing more to oppose such vile acts? Why is he even still President, given how he has violated the Bill of Rights so often, it might as well have never been written. How come we haven’t burned up the telephone wires, the fax machines, the email servers, with our outrage over his treatment of other human beings, using Torture Techniques to elicit confessions and information.

In short, why aren’t we involved in what our Government is doing? Why can’t we inundate their offices with our concerns, our doubts, our objections? We need to Get Involved, before we lose all of our Civil Rights, and we listen to speeches of the Chinese Premier talking about US denying human rights, about US locking up dissidents. After all, the US Government can now listen to your phone calls, read your email, and without any Judicial Oversight.

How far off are we from being a poor cousin to that communist giant, China?

Call me old fashioned or a prude even, but you know, the printing of a person’s private prayer to God should not be anyone’s business, and the bullshit claim of ‘right to know‘ really doesn’t exist here. Now the sensation is about a prayer Obama placed in the Wailing Wall in Israel, which an Israeli newspaper printed. What I find interesting is that MSNBC also reprinted the prayer, while basically quoting other sources as saying it should never have been published.  Sort of a tacit agreement with that view, while at the same time, sneaking the text of the prayer into the story.

As a Jew, I find the actions by the newspaper to be highly offensive. I find the report by MSNBC to be as bad, if not worse, because they try to take the high road on this, while revealing the contents of the note. Which to me is just as bad as the original action by the Israeli Newspaper.

Fact is, to many Jews, the Wailing Wall is our private little communion with GOD. It is as sacred to us as is the confessional to Catholics, so for anyone to defile that is just WRONG. To push it further, is just as wrong, and frankly what did it serve the story? The article wasn’t about the Prayer itself, but about the reaction to its publication by the Israeli Newspaper.

This is typical of the Media.

Yet I do find it encouraging to note that other publications in Israel refrained from publishing its content. Least there are still SOME who respect the privacy of people, when they communicate to GOD, even if they are a Presidential Candidate. Now the WHITE PRESS will tear into this, make much light of it, and who knows what else, because it sells advertising spots, it lets them get their personal digs on a candidate they don’t support, or even want to have reached this stage.

While many of Senator Obama’s policies leave me unconvinced, I have to say, that HE at least appears to offer a change of pace. Yet the Media Circus continues to hound and belittle his every move. They criticize his Foreign Trip, while at the same time don’t even mention the SEVERAL FOREIGN TRIPS made by Senator McCain. They don’t bring up how as a Candidate he too has sought audiences with other World Leaders, but that is different.

Why?

Because John McCain is old school, and more importantly for the media, John McCain is WHITE.

I have seen bullying, seen Racism at its finest. This attack by the Media is right up there, because they aren’t attacking Senator Obama on his policies, but on how he is perceived. They do not deal fairly with his mistakes, as they do with Senator McCain’s. Heck John McCain is attacking Obama for this trip, calling it nothing but an attempt to garner political leverage, as if John McCain’s numerous trips to Iraq were for anything else?

This is why I support a campaign reform plan, that includes making the Press far more accountable. I believe ALL CANDIDATES should be given FREE ACCESS ON ALL MEDIA to express their views, their policies. They should ALL be given X NUMBER of free ads, free time, AT PRIME SPACE & TIME to explain their views, their policies. That is the only way that we can begin to control the amount of SPECIAL INTEREST MONEY that is rapidly turning elections into nothing more than a Corporate Game of Chicken.

This is what perhaps gets me about all this political nonsense, called Primaries.

I mean you enter the race to seek the Nomination, but at some point, when you realize you aren’t going to win, you hang in for either credibility for your next try, or for gaining the Number 2 Spot. I mean look at how long Mike Huckabee stuck it out in the Republican Race, when there was no mathematical chance of him winning, but he stuck it out, and some say he is on the short list for the VP nod from John McCain.

Now we have the Spin Doctors alluding to Hilary Clinton’s big speech from NY tonight, after the primary, where she is positioning herself to help unify the Party. They are also saying it is the sign that Obama needs to seek her out for the VP nod.

“In her speech tomorrow night, she will convey the message that first and foremost she is committed to Democrats winning in November and will do whatever she’s asked to do,” said a close friend and adviser of the New York senator and former first lady, who speaks with her regularly and is privy to her deliberations. How can anyone, Clinton or Obama want the second banana post? I mean they have spent how many months tearing each other apart, calling them racists, calling them inexperienced, old guard, and so on. So what suddenly changes, that now makes them acceptable running mates for the General Election?

Seriously, what has changed that would make Obama believe that Hilary Clinton is inept, is a war hawk, is old style, back room politician? Has she somehow magically been altered to not be all those negative things he called her during the race for the Nomination?  Then how about Hilary Clinton, like isn’t this the height of hypocrisy, for her to even want to join the Obama ticket for November?

I mean look at her ads, at how she calls him nothing but full of words but no action, how she says he is naive, incompetent, an appeaser, and worse, he is Black. So how can she now justify even wanting to take on the Vice President slot on the Ticket? She accused him, and all men, of ganging up on her, but she’ll take second banana?

No wonder nearly half of those eligible to vote, ACTUALLY VOTE.
