Is He A Patriot?

Shades of Hilary Clinton, or so it seems, as Cindy McCain joins a growing Republican Chorus, wondering if Senator Obama is a Patriot. I really don’t know, I mean he didn’t fudge is service record like George W did, and he didn’t run off to England like Good Old Boy Bill did, so is he a Patriot? Maybe it is his name that has so many right wing conservatives upset? After all, they have been waging a war on those who are different for some time now, and maybe it is that which has their pristine white undies in a knot?

Frankly I don’t understand Politics, or why we, the Voters, are so willing to accept all these ‘attack style’ campaigns. To begin with, let’s stop being so naive as to believe that any ’surrogate’ is acting on their own, that they are directed to make the remarks they make, with the full consent of the candidates chief campaign strategists. It is naive to believe otherwise.

Secondly, if you have a program that you honestly believe will work, why concentrate on what your opponent isn’t, and not concentrate on what you are? It makes no sense to me, that if you have a good health care plan, a proper energy program, that you should spend more time getting that message out, than what some Pastor in a church said, or anything like that.

John McCain wants offshore drilling, nuclear power plants, while Obama hasn’t really said what his plan is, but I have to wonder, why worry if Obama is a Patriot or Not, when people are losing their homes, and can’t afford their food? Shouldn’t your plan be to tell us how you will fix that, not whether or not he might or might not share the views of a bitter man like Pastor Wright?

Maybe instead of sending wives or husbands out to play the race card, the gender card, why not send them out to explain why their partner’s health care is better than the other candidates, why not have them detail how your tax cuts to big business will protect the Middle Class? Perhaps have them tell everyone why your opposition to offshore drilling is now changed? In short, how about answering the questions, not trying to deflect them by attacking your opponent simply because he has a Muslim sounding middle name?

Now that would be Patriotic, don’t you think?
