How He Hates Us Gays

General Chit Chat, Minority Watch, Politics

Yes, Stephen Harper and his Klan are determined to bring about their values, their ideals of what it means to be a Canadian. This from a man who WILL NOT SAY HE LOVES HIS COUNTRY but will heap nothing but praise on the untra right religious hate groups in the States. This from a man who WOULD NOT LOWER OUR FLAG for fallen soldiers in battle. And now he wants to let select groups be exempt from hate crime laws if they speak against homosexuals.

The Globe, quoting Justice Minister Vic Toews and unnamed sources, said that that the bill, to be called the Defense of Religions Act, also would exempt members of the clergy, church groups and socially conservative organizations from Canada’s hate crimes law if they spoke out against homosexuality. The bill also would allow businesses whose owners object to homosexuality to refuse to do business with gays, the Globe reported. ( full story )

It is open season on Gays.

Yes this does piss me off, because frankly I never expected to see this crap come from any Government Leader, let alone my Prime Minister. Yes, Stephen Harper is my Prime Minister simply because enough of my fellow Canadians elected enough of his Klansmen to form the government. Unlike others who use lame excuses like hanging chads or some other bullshit, Harper won and that is that as far as I am concerned. That is part of being a Canadian, of accepting the facts and moving on.

I won’t vote for him, and will shout out his infamy every chance I get, but that too is part of being a Canadian, something Harper and Toews clearly haven’t a clue about.  To think, Harper wants to insure that racism is rampant here, that civil rights, irrespective of what they are, are no longer valid for select groups, and business. Like how does that restore good old fashioned values?

Think about all that suddenly is at risk if Harper goes ahead with this bullshit. Think about discrimenation against blacks, natives, east indians, and more that will eventually happen if Harper makes this type of inroad into our basic values. Consider the ramifications this type of cherry picking will lead to when it comes crunch time?

A group that is a minority has little friends or support, so naturally it is up to the Government to insure they aren’t abused. Thanks to Stephen Harper that one and only bastion of hope would be gone, all because Stephen Harper hates gays. There can be no other explanation for it. It isn’t being Christian either, because unless I am totally mistaken, the basic philosophy of Christianity was to bring food, support, compassion and love to those less fortunate. You hear in all their songs, so how does allowing hatred of one minority group become a good Christian value?

It is this type of double talk that really is scary. I expect it from Bush and his ilk, but to see it in Canada is frightening. It means the hordes are not at the gates, but have entered the grounds. To even think of such a plan, well is just wrong but also not the Canadian Way. Hopefully the opposition will squash this, and I have enough faith in this nation that if it goes to the people for a vote, they will squash Mr Harper and his racism totally.

It is tough times, but then this country has faced them before. Still it seems that anger and racism is now becoming common here, something I am just not used to. I mean for Christ’s sake, I walk in our grocery store holding Dave’s hand at times, and all those times, no one has given us a dirty look. Hell when we went for our marraige license, couples getting theirs wished us well, there wasn’t one single frown, or look of disgust. And that is here, in staid old Victoria, so where does Harper find his support? Alberta? Hell I am from there myself, I didn’t see it then, so maybe, this is just one more nail in his bid for re-election. God I hope so.
