Seeds of doubt are fostered by politicians, supporting their corporate masters. They confuse the issues, because if they didn't, we might not re-elect them. They make claims they can't support, but instead of looking for the answers, they try to hide them. They muzzle scientists, through fear, through intimidation, and then hold conferences to come up with solutions, that don't even come close to dealing with the issues. We don't have to worry though, Stephen Harper will do whatever President Obama tells him to. After all, he wouldn't want to have an original thought.

For 100 years the treaty has existed. Now it is to be renegotiated, under the guise of updating it, of making it meet today's standars. Funny don't you think? After all, are they really telling us that the Great Lakes Treaty hasn't been updated since its inception one hundred years ago? Or are they simply trying to hide the fact, that once more the Harper Government is about to sell us out to the Americans? After all, they are his true saviors, and he would much rather do them a favor, than protect Canadian Interests. He can always come up with some attack ad, to deflect the truth, can't he? Then too, maybe he is just trying to get an extra dollar or two, before he sells off Niagra Falls? I mean who needs such a leaky faucet, and now with the borders being more rigid in who can, or can't get across, maybe we should sell it to the Americans. After all, it might lower the fifty billion dollar deficit to forty nine point nine billion. And that is good for the economy, because well, other countries do much worse.

Harper & his cronies, made a big deal about how dumping toxic mine waste into the pristine lakes & rivers in British Columbia was not going to be harmful, but would insure a failing mining industry would survive, in tough economic times. Yet these same troubled companies, posted record profits, while the supposed world is in an economic recession, without the benefit of these free dumpings. Makes you wonder what other bull needs to be uncovered, from a government bought & paid for by big business.

You would think that there would be something on the front page about the local provincial election, or at least discussing the differences in each parties environmental platform, given today is earth day. But not here, nope, we got treated to a huge announcement of a local grocery chain, going green. It will phase out plastic bags, and you know, it is to simply sell us their cloth bags. Also to save them money, by not having to buy millions of plastic ones. It isn't about going green but about raping our wallets some more. Guess they aren't big enough to qualify for a government bailout like GM or IAG.

Typical of the Harper Conservatives, is to put in secret or hidden little gems, to get them past public scrutiny. LIke making a change to age old laws, under the guise of modernization, but in fact, that give unlimited power to a minister to change our landscape. Once more the Harper Conservatives show their lack of concern, care, for our environment, and that only corporate profits matter, as they try to remove public input, remove the need for determing any environmental impacts. In short, they push for the uncontested rape of our country, by hiding the truth. So much for Harper's pledge of an accountable, and transparent government, as he tries to push our country into a toxic dump.
