Depending on who you listen to, we produce a lot of Isotopes for medical use. Not only do Canadian Physicians rely on it, but many around the world rely on our ability to produce these little miracles of modern science. Yet we aren’t doing very well at it, and so the Harper Government thinks we should sell it off, or at least get some private group to manage it.  All while his Minister spews how sexy the crisis is, and how incompetent her colleague is.

In the recording, Raitt says, “You know what solves this problem? Money. And if it’s just about money, we’ll figure it out. It’s not a moral issue.”

On the recording, Raitt also expresses doubts about the abilities of Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq to handle “hot” issues, saying her staff “is trying to shield her.” ( CBC News )

Couple issues I have with this entire Isotope mess.

First off, is the Harper Government trying to sell it off, because it is a political embarassment? I mean the fact that he can’t get it to work, that it is running over budget for repair, the reason he wants to sell it off?

Or does he owe some Campaign Contributor who decided they’d like to have a slice of that income generating pie?

Then we have this recording, where the Minister thinks it is sexy to have people waiting for medical tests, due to a lack of isotopes. Not sure how that translates into being sexy, but then there are other considerations here.

To begin with, why was there a recording of this private conversation?

Odd to, how once again, it was mysteriously LEFT BEHIND, for a news agency to find, just like the documents that got the aide fired, where LEFT BEHIND. I mean, is this all part of a smoke screen, designed to take people’s mind away from the real issue, which in my mind, IS THE INABILITY OF THE HARPER GOVERNMENT TO SOLVE THE CHALK CREEK ISOTOPE ISSUE?

And then too, a FIVE HOUR RECORDING? Uh, come on, something smells here, and it isn’t from lack of a deoderant either, or the lack of confidence in a Colleague. I mean who really has any CONFIDENCE in the Harper Elite Cabinet?

Kory Teneycke, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s chief spokesman, told CBC News on Tuesday that Raitt’s statements were “an unfortunate choice of wording in a recording — that is one word in 5½ hours of tape recording.” ( CBC News )

Unfortunate choice of words, is true. Then again, it is also the tone used that would imply a rather callous approach, don’t you think? And while at it, how come Harper HAS NOT talked with her since the recording became public? I mean there was even a court challenge to stop its release (publication) so not like he didn’t have time.

Rather interesting sidebar too, is why did he accept the resignation of his former best buddy, over leaked documents, but not this Minister? Heck, he hasn’t even talked with her about it, so I wonder, was his reason for keeping her, based on not wanting to get rid of a female cabinet minister?

Did he get rid of the other, because he knew he didn’t stand a chance of winning Quebec, so a Cabinet Minister from there, was well, expendable?

Makes you wonder about HIS priorities, or whether or not this whole thing is one very well crafted plan, to take the heat off Flaherty for his FIFTY BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, or take the HEAT OFF for wanting to SELL OFF CANADIAN COMPANIES.

IF, as the Minister says, this is just about MONEY, why then haven’t the Conservatives PUT UP THE MONEY? I mean after all, they are running a FIFTY BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, and given how SEXY OF AN ISSUE THIS IS, would seem logical to throw more money at it, and get it out of the public focus. Then too, perhaps it isn’t really about MONEY, but instead is about how CLUELESS the HARPER GOVERNMENT IS.
