Jobless Rate 11 Year High

Our unemployed rose to 8.4%, an eleven year high, and yet Stephen Harper warned the Liberals yesterday, not to defeat his Government, because it was leading Canada out of the Recession. He claimed that his Government, had wisely protected Canada, and that despite a now record deficit of about FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS, that it was the Conservatives who could best continue to lead our Nation, in these bad economic times.
Full-time employment dropped by 58,700 last month, bringing total full-time losses since October to 406,000.
Part-time employment rose by 17,000, continuing a trend since October 2008 that has seen 44,000 part-time workers added. ( CBC News )
What is not being addressed, is that the number of jobs created, are mainly low paying jobs, and that yes, part time jobs are increasing, but again, due to the inability of the Harper Regime to protect high end jobs.
Billions are being spent on bailouts for big corporations, that are only adding to the unemployment rates, and are phasing out high paying jobs. In short, we are becoming a nation of slave labor, so that even the cheap immigrant labor from the poorer nations, will be the standard wages, rather than the exception. Harper is gutting our country, to appease the corporate world.
Microsoft for example, is threatening to move its workforce offshore, if Obama doesn’t cave in on some requirements. But think about it, while yes, the bottom line is important, what good is having lower operating costs elsewhere, than where you make the majority of your sales?
If we want to have Canadians buying the fancy new washing machines, the new operating systems for computers, the new cars, then how can we expect them to do that, if they are earning minimum wage?
Allowing Industry to ship everything abroad, does not improve our buying power, as the price of these goods does not get lower, but has the added cost of shipping thrown in, so in reality, they actually cost US, the consumer, more. While the COMPANY may make more profits, just look around. How many of those companies have their hands out for bailouts today?
If the concept was sound, then they would not be needing our taxpayer money, because their sales would be just fine, bit lower, but they’d still be making money. Fact is, they are losing their shirts, because in order to make the goods cheaper in cost to them, they are putting the very people who buy the products, at inflated prices, out of work.
I won’t buy a new washing machine, if I can barely afford to put food on the table.
Something Mr. Harper seems to have forgotten, as have most (if not all) of his financial backers, Corporate Elitists.
