It is becoming more apparent, that only the Supreme Court of Canada is the only function part of our Government, that will protect Canadian Citizens. In their recent ruling, they have ordered the Harper Government to allow the return of a falsly accused man from the Sudan.

Both the RCMP and Canadian Security Intelligence Service have cleared Abdelrazik of any terrorist connections, but the Conservative government refuses to issue him travel documents to return home because his name was added to a UN Security Council list banning travel for terrorist suspects. Despite the ruling, the Harper Government continues to waffle, and delay. It shows clearly that Stephen Harper & His Conservatives have no respect for the rights of average Canadians, but only those who have influence. It shows clearly that there is indeed racism in how this Harper Government deals with Citizens trapped in circumstances not of their own making.

The Harper Conservatives are not the Conservatives of Sir John A. MacDonald or John Diefenbaker, but are the racists of George Bush Republicans.

For an ENTIRE YEAR this man has lived in our Embassy, and because the United States refuses to take his name off a list, Stephen Harper is willing to abandon him. If he was white, and a God Fearing Christian, perhaps Mr Harper would do more, but given the man is not white, given that he is a Muslin, Mr Harper shows no compassion, no understanding.

IS THIS REALLY THE TYPE OF GOVERNMENT WE WANT?

It is sad, when it takes a Supreme Court Ruling to force a government to do what it should automatically do. Worse is that despite this ruling, the Harper Government isn’t rushing to correct its racist attitude, but will take it under advisement, and review. In other words, look for a loophole to try and weasel out, as they seem to prefer, over doing what is simply the right thing.
