There has been a great deal of speculation in the press, about Barack Obama wanting Hilary Clinton to be his Secretary of State. Many so called political pundits call it ideal, say it is a great way to bring the party together, and that she is a perfect fit for such a tough job. Frankly I think those who are suggesting Hilary Clinton for Secretary of State are using way too many drugs, and drinking way too much booze.

Hilary Rodham Clinton would make a horrible choice for Secretary of State.

Consider the simple truth of America’s position abroad, which is horrible. If Barack Obama truly wants to change how we abroad think of America, then have the decency to put as his representative world wide, someone with some class, some humility. Hilary Rodham Clinton was not a favorite world wide, by the people, nor has her tenure as Senator been worthy of such a post. After all, she did vote to give Bush a blank check in Iraq, and the mean spirited manner of her run for President is indicative of the Clintons, not something one wants to have in place representing to an already skeptical world.

The simple truth, is that Obama needs a Secretary of State who is tough, in representing his view, but is also willing to listen to the views of others, so they can properly report back. Hilary Clinton was First Lady, and is a Senator, that has shown she doesn’t listen to others, and quite frankly, is not a new face to put on American Foreign Policy. I mean she objected strongly to discussions with enemies, so now she is going to be welcomed in Tehran, Moscow, and other places?

There are some important issues facing America, from the world, beyond the ecnomic crisis. There is the Missile Defence Shielf by Bush, that has brought about a second cold war. The invasion of Georgia shows to how low relations have sunk between the USA and Russia, and Hilary Clinton is not what I’d call, a soft spoken type, who would ease the feelings of mistrust that now exists.

When in charge of securing some form of national health care for America, Ms. Clinton pissed Canadians off by calling our system third rate, suited for a third world country, which she alluded to Canada being. Like that is really democratic, but then back then only about 40 Million Americans were without health coverage, now it is closer to Sixty Million. Up here in our little third world status, ALL CANADIANS HAVE HEALTH COVERAGE.  We don’t forget these things, nor do other countries.

Then there is the whole Bill Clinton thing. The man is a crook, for lack of a better word. He is a liar, and he did perjure himself before a judge, and she stood by him. Now I don’t care that he is a lecherous old man, but I do care that she manipulated that cheating to her political advantage. That she remains married to the guy, not out of love, but out of political need. Oh she may love him, though one wonders how, but the issue is, she would be representing America, and her hubby Bill has way too many negatives.

Just look at how he dealt with the race card during the primaries? Look too, at how she handled herself as well, and consider that a lot of people voted for her, to give John McCain an edge. She was the best hope for a Republican Win and still is the best thing for the Republican Party. To make her Secretary of State would not only be distasteful to the world, but to a lot of Americans too.

It really is simple, if she wasn’t good enough to be President, if her demanour and coldness wasn’t good enough for that, if her judgement on key issues is suspect (voting for the Iraq War, voting to declare the Iranian Republican Guard terrorists), how then can she be qualified for representing America abroad?
