Not a Time for New Taxes

Election 2008 (Canada)

Stephen Harper keeps telling us that DIon’s plan will raise taxes, that a shift to Green will cost us huge, and that in these uncertain economic times, this is the wrong move. So what is the right move? Obviously we have some serious issues facing us, and on Tuesday we have to decide, to follow the ‘stay the course‘ approach of Stephen Bush Harper, or try something new, something that is about looking to the future, not just the past.

Has the ‘stay the course‘ approach worked anywhere? I mean look at the UK, at the rest of Europe, and the United States. For some time now, all of us have followed the Greatest Democracy Ever, in our approach to business. We have signed trade deals that give corporations freedom to cheat, to lie, to pollute, to endanger lives, and in return what have we gotten?

ARE YOU MAKING MORE MONEY, LIVING BETTER, AS A RESULT?

Are the toys you buy for your children cheaper, safer? How about the food you buy to put on your table today, is is safer, cheaper? Does your job still exist today in the high end fields or have you been ‘re trained’ to work in the Hospitality Industry while your hi tech jobs are being done in Communist China and India?

While Banks fume, panic even, and investors go nuts selling and selling, let us step back and examine this whole nightmare. It naturally began with the failed sub prime mortgage scandal in the United States or did it? Was that really the beginning of the problem, or was that merely the first symptom of disaster coming to light?

This came about, because WE THE PEOPLE stopped thinking. We let the Media and ATTACK POLITICS take hold, and bully us into electing self serving leaders. Whether they were Bush, Harper, or Blair, or Howard or Putin, WE ELECTED THEM. We succumbed to their fear tactics, their bullying through attack ads and rhetoric, that has thrown us into a tail spin today. This is the truth, which we seem unwilling to accept, or come to terms with.

In normal times, people like Bush & Harper would never be likely candidates for high office, let alone attain it, but today they lead, and they lead by being bullies, by being corporate stooges. They have nothing original to offer, except FEAR. Yet they still hold support, so who is really to blame for this crisis, THEM OR US?

Truth hurts, but WE the people are to blame, for listening to the so called experts of the Media, for accepting attack ads as being an answer to the issues. Look at Harper, today preaching about how Dion can’t lead, because he couldn’t understand something in English. Look at Harper who said that Ritz was under extreme pressure, so while his jokes were inappropriate he did a good job. Look at Bush who told his head of FEMA at how good of a job he was doing, while thousands were without food, water, or sanitation in the Superdome during Katrina.

TELL ME AGAIN WHY ANYONE WOULD VOTE FOR THEM TODAY?

Doing nothing, DOES NOT WORK, and yet we seem willing to once more trust Stephen Harper to do just that… NOTHING. It boggles the mind, but at least the other parties have some plans, and that HAS TO BE BETTER THAN NOTHING. Now I don’t know, but it seems to me we need to have a break from the policies that have failed our society. Isn’t it time to stop voting for who has the best attack ads, but instead start voting on who has answers to the problems we face?

If we implement a Green Plan, NDP, Liberal, Green Party, it doesn’t matter, at least we will be moving forward, moving away from the things that have helped create this economic mess we are in. Yes it may indeed cost us more today, but then again, does it matter to you if your children have a country to live in? If not, then don’t pay the bill today, let them worry about it, because that is what a DO NOTHING PLAN DOES, IT PUTS THE BURDEN ON THE FUTURE GENERATIONS.

Is that what you want?

ANYONE BUT CONSERVATIVE
