Old Fashioned

Musings

I wonder, what ever really happened to values, to being honest?

If you listen to the Politicians, they have all the answers, until they get elected, then they suddenly don’t have any answers. Like our Stephen Harper who promised the moon, swore up and down he’d deliver on giving Canada a Government we could be proud of, that was 100% Transparent.

Yeah right, so let’s see, he does his best to get Schreiber deported so he can’t talk, has his letters hidden that talk about Mulroney taking a bribe, then slams the opposition for wanting it investigated. He bitches when Ministers talk, holds an auction to get more competition on the airwaves, then does nothing when the prices go up, instead of down. Oh and he conveniently forgets to mention that his best buddy Mulroney is a lobbyist for a telecom firm.

Then there is McCain in the States and even Obama it seems. Or Clinton and Romney, who are being touted as potential running mates, that are really in the hip pockets of Big Business. You listen to Bush and his cabinet mouth threats until you are shocked when they actually aren’t threatening someone, but nothing ever comes of their threats. Such as with North Korea, Iran, Russia, and the list goes on.

So what happened to old fashioned ethics and values?

China puts a six year old out in the public stage, to lip sync, and that makes the news. It is splashed all over but the Invasion of Georgia by Russia gets minimal notice? I mean uh, isn’t people being killed, bombed, a bit more important than whether the singer at an Olympic event sang or lip synced the words?

When Israel went after Hezbollah in Lebanon, after soldiers were kidnapped, after numerous rocket attacks, the world went berzerk. They condemned Israel, ranted and raved and had God knows how many Security Council meetings for just that, yet where are they when Russia invades Georgia?

At the Olympics watching fake fireworks?
