A Drilling We Will Go, A Drilling We Will Go, He Ho a Drilling We Will Go
Yep, George Bush has rescinded the executive order that prevents Offshore Oil Drilling, in order to help stop the rising gas prices. Like I know I am Blond, but even I know that such a move won’t solve the current crisis, nor will it even solve the continuing crisis in five years, ten years, or at any time. Someone needs to tell Mr Bush that OIL is a NON RENEWABLE RESOURCE. You can’t find it anywhere, and once it is gone, well, unless you believe in Jurassic Park, you aren’t going to replenish what is gone.
(CBS/ AP) In another push to deal with soaring gas prices, President Bush on Monday will lift an executive ban on offshore drilling that has stood since his father was president. But the move, by itself, will do nothing unless Congress acts as well. (source - CBS News)
What amazes me more than Bush’s dumbness, or lack of concern for the future, is that many of his citizens can’t see the forest for the trees either. I mean seriously, the issue isn’t about finding more Oil. At best that is a stop gap measure, that does NOTHING to address the issue of rising oil consumption with dwindling supplies. Yet according to a recent pew poll (don’t you love that name, pew?) nearly half of Americans think offshore drilling is more important than protecting the environment.
I CALL THAT BEING SELFISH.
TO begin with, you create a mess for the future generations to deal with. You add to an already polluted environment, and endanger even more wildlife, all so you can speed off to work by yourself in your gas guzzling SUV. So let’s stop the bullshit, and get real. What we do now, will effect the future of Mankind, not just the next generation. We need alternatives to Oil, that we can renew, reuse, and not pollute the earth.
I am tired of freak weather, of storms when there shouldn’t be any, of snow when it shouldn’t snow, or sun when it should be snowing. I don’t want my small little island to be swamped by rising levels of the ocean because the Polar Ice Cap is melting, all because industry is too busy raping our pocket books, yet refusing to seek safer means of production.
Transportation can be made more efficient, if we truly want it to be. There are other means of fueling our economy, than Petroleum Products, and those who don’t know that, are simply being stupid. Yes, STUPID.
While conservation is a big step forward, we need to change our whole perception of life. I mean we can’t keep on raping the environment, for our own self interests. Corporations can’t continue to pollute the atmosphere, just because they want higher profits. It isn’t like we are paying rock bottom prices for our goods either, whether they are made in a state of the art facility that is enviro friendly or made in China where pollution is rising faster than the population is. So let’s get real, stop the bitching, stop listening to the Corporate Big Shots who can afford to jet off where it is quiet, where they have climate control in every room, never mind the building.
Besides, if you care about your children, about your possible grand children, don’t you think you owe it to them, to stop being so selfish?

[...] [Technorati] Tag results for caregiver wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt Our old doctor kept saying, as you get older, things don’t work as well, which was really annoying. I mean yes, Mom is 91 years old, but still, complaints can’t just be tossed off as, ‘well as we get older’ which was his standard answer. The new Doctor on the other hand, seems a bit more pragmatic, and at least, listens. Though time will tell how good he is. Yet I wonder, at what goes on in the mind of someone who is Mom’s age? Like this afternoon, we got her to soak her feet in one of those [...]
