Gas Went Up because Gas Went Up
The Price of Gas went up at the Pumps, and the excuse is that well, it costs more to deliver the gas, due to the higher price for Diesel.
Makes as much sense as the reason for Friday’s jump on the market, which was because some jerk ass analyst said gas would hit $150 a barrel by July 4, and some Israeli second tier cabinet minister said Israel would consider attacking Iran IF they got the bomb. I mean come on here, are we really this stupid to buy into the bullshit being spewed by the Oil Companies?
Gas is at $1.46 a liter here, which is about $5.40 a gallon. It went up today 7¢ a liter, and yet the price per barrel went down today, as there was some traders taking out their profits. Now I may not be an economist, but if these jackals are selling, to reap profits, and we are letting them, we need to all start taking some funky drugs or something to help ease the burden at the grocery store and elsewhere.
Crude oil futures on Monday fell back from last week’s record levels as traders took some profits from the recent run-up, but few were expecting an end to oil’s recent volatility.
The July contract settled at $134.45 US a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down $4.09 a barrel from Friday’s record close. A wild rally that day sent oil futures soaring a one-day record $10.75 US a barrel. (source - CBC News)
Obama can suggest adding another $50 billion to help bail out the US Economy, but let’s be honest. The answer lies in REGULATING THE OIL INDUSTRY, and ending their GREED. To begin with, yes I know Oil is not a renewable resource, but where is the research into renewable fuels? Granted, that won’t solve the problem today, but REGULATING THE INDUSTRY WILL.
Forget this bullshit Carbon Tax, let us simply put an end to avarice and greed by the Oil Industry. It is time for GOVERNMENT TO REPRESENT US NOT BIG BUSINESS. Canada is a major exporter of Oil, so how come we are paying so much? Oh, I forgot, the Oil Industry are big contributors to Stephen Harper Conservatives, just as they are to George Bush Republicans. HOW CONVENIENT… for them.
Simply put, there is NO COMPETITION at all. If there was, then you would not every single gas station selling gas at the SAME PRICE. There would be differences, and it doesn’t take a degree in Economics or in Politics to know that. It also isn’t Rocket Science to know they are manipulating the market, as well as rigging the prices. Hell, I know in business you want to achieve maximum profits, but I also know that if I have something that costs me X dollars, and my opposition pays the same, but gets more business than me, I LOWER MY PRICE and try to bridge the losses through VOLUME SALES.
Imagine a Chevron Station that suddenly put gas at $1.30 a liter. Think about it, you gonna run over to Petro Canada at $1.46 or you gonna go to Chevron?
So tell me again Stephen Harper how it is that these stations all CHARGE THE SAME PRICE and oh yeah, funny isn’t it, how when one raises the price, it is a race to see who gets their price right up there too? I mean they all do it at VIRTUALLY THE SAME TIME. So tell me again Stephen Harper, that there is no collusion between the various Oil Companies.
