McCain rejects Hagee Endorsement

Like, a bit late in the game isn’t it? Or was this just a good example showing what lengths Senator John McCain will go to, to reach the prize of winning the White House? Is it an all out offensive, at any cost?
UNION CITY, California – Republican presidential candidate John McCain rejected the months-old endorsement of an influential Texas televangelist after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. (source – MSNBC)
I mean okay a tape showed up, but it isn’t like this guy isn’t known for his rather bizarre take on things. Yet so many courted him, sought his endorsement all because he is the Pastor over a Mega Church. Not because he is a good person, has shared beliefs with the candidates, but it is because he has influence over a lot of so called Church Goers. In short, it is for VOTES and not because of his shared convictions.
Now I don’t know, but for me, it just seems rather insane to seek the support of someone, who you know is going to be controversial, who is going to make things a bit sticky if picked up on. So why then did John McCain accept his support? Did it ease his worries about gaining the support of the Religious Right? Of the so called Conservative Wing of the Party? Was it a way for him to heal the party, to get his foot in the door to where now he is able to get rid of Hagee, and still keep the Conservative Support Hagee brought to his campaign?
Makes you wonder a bit, doesn’t it?
It also makes me wonder, at just what does John McCain believe in? When he fights with talk show hosts about Gay Rights, about DADT and other ‘wedge issues‘ that the Conservatives love to have attacked, is he opposing them simply to garner support, or does he truly disagree with same sex rights? Does he honestly believe the Military should turf out homosexuals, under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?
Really Makes You Wonder.
