Edwards Endorses Obama

When John Edwards withdrew from the Race for President, both Clinton & Obama were hot after his endorsement, and he played it coy, keeping himself more or less out of the fray, but today he has come forward, to add his name to the growing list of Notable Endorsements for Senator Barack Obama. What effect it will have will be interesting, given the results from the West Virginia primary on Tuesday.
His endorsement is sure to come as a blow to the campaign of Hillary Clinton, whose operatives have actively courted Edwards’s support since he withdrew from the Democratic contest in January. (source – CBC News)
I rather liked John Edwards, and his ideas on Trade. He also was far more Gay Friendly than either of the remaining two as well, but for me, it was his apparent genuine desire to work to lessen the impacts of Trade Agreements, of Poverty, and to basically level the playing field. He talked more about Education than both Clinton and Obama, but the media seemed unwilling to give him a break.
I basically believe his campaign could have gone far, if the Media had not ignore him. And that does rather to make me wonder a bit, about the Mainstream Press, and how they have handled this entire election. How they have cozied up to Obama when Clinton was declared UNBEATABLE, and how they have taken such delight in trying to unravel his campaign with their innuendo and questioning of his patriotism, specially in light of the Pastor Wright comments.
While I don’t believe the race is over yet, I rather wish John Edwards had remained in it. He was much more honest, and much more open about his policies, than either Obama or Clinton have been. He was more specific, more detailed, and maybe that is why the media ignored him? I mean he was giving answers, that perhaps the advertisers didn’t like. His whole Trade Policy was certainly not welcome news to Big Business, so I would guess they helped scuttle his campaign, through their disproportionate influence with Mainstream Media.
Makes you rather wonder how they get away with, election after election, but they do. Still, it would be nice, to see where they would actually live up to their billing, of being impartial.
On the flip side, I don’t know if his endorsement will help much. However, it might give Obama some help in attracting more white voters, specially the so called ‘working class’ that have failed to consider him as their choice for President. Not sure if they should or shouldn’t, but compared to Clinton, I just can’t see how people wouldn’t rather have him.
Yes, he may be ‘of privilege’ as they say, but look at some of the great Presidents. FDR certainly wasn’t what you would call common, and JFK certainly wasn’t either. I mean come on here, like George Bush was was from common stock? And let’s be honest too, Hilary Rodham Clinton is about as common as Volga Caviar is run of the mill fish eggs. So what is it about her that seems to have attracted so many ‘working class’ in West Virginia? Is it her common mannerisms in speaking, or is it simply that she is White?
My money is that she is white, not that she resonates with their own values, or needs. I just don’t see how so many seem fooled by the Clinton Magic, but then I don’t see how so many are fooled by Stephen Harper either. Hell, I don’t even get how so many can send in $5 for prayer clothes when they know their letters get turfed into the garbage.
I have to admit, I never have understood racism. It just doesn’t make sense to me, that people who have any kind of education, could today base their choice for President on the color of a person’s skin, yet, that does seem to be becoming the thing now, that so many assume Obama will take the Democratic Nomination.
