Richardson for Obama

Governor Richardson, former candidate for President, has endorsed Senator Obama.
The New Mexico governor joined Obama at spirited rally Friday and said the Illinois senator demonstrated his leadership abilities this week with his speech on race. “You are a once-in-a-lifetime leader,” the governor said from the stage. “Above all, you will be a president who brings this nation together.” (source)
I think that in many ways, endorsements really are just attempts at currying favor, or banking on a horse to win, and you get invited to the party. Though in all honesty, I suppose that is how it goes, but I wonder too, if everyone is like that? I mean in some ways, it could hurt you down the road. For example, if Obama did want to have Richardson as a running mate, doesn’t his endorsement now make it harder to actually have?
By that I mean, many will say that was a ‘price‘ for his earlier endorsement, and that sure as hell can’t help you in a campaign scenario, now can it?
Then we have the Clinton Campaign deriding the endorsement, one more reason why I feel so anti Clinton. I mean surely there are better ways to counter an endorsement, than to make it seem like its a lame or unimportant display of support.
Citing Clinton’s victory in New Mexico in February, senior strategist Mark Penn said, “Perhaps the time when he could have been most effective has long since past.” (source)
Sort of sounds more like sour grapes to me. It is what I hate about politics, how these so called ’surrogates’ respond. You know damn well they don’t respond without the head cheese’s approval, yet they do it instead of the head cheese, to give them an out. Like I really believe the crap from Ferraro was her own idea, or Bill Clinton’s nonsense in South Carolina. No way, and if it was, well sure doesn’t say much for Hilary if she can’t control her best friend and hubby.
Whatever happened to talking about the real issues, not the spin?
