If anyone bothered to watch the Republican Debate on Wednesday, did you laugh as much as I did? Not from the answers given, those were rather nice little bedtime stories, but when the Moderator set the ground rules?

media hypocrisySeriously, how does any media outfit, promoting a ‘[[debate]]’ restrict the questions on such national and regional importance like the War in Iraq, and Immigration? For the sponsors to try and REMOVE those topics, makes me wonder at just what is it the Media is trying to hide, or WHO are they trying to protect?

Both are indeed divisive issues, however, isn’t that what a debate is supposed to be about, to highlight the issues, and the differences among the candidates? Why should any MEDIA SPONSOR attempt to change the topics that matter? Who are they kidding, when they try to claim that those issues DON’T MATTER TO LOCAL VOTERS?

I know I want to hear how a candidate is going to handle local issues, no doubt about it, but let me see, do I really expect the LEADER, whether President or Prime Minister, to worry about the local zoning laws, whether or not they support some clearly local jurisdictional matter?

I DON’T THINK SO.

I want the leader to explain to me how he/she will handle the pressing issues. If there are local ramifications, then how they will address them. Like John McCain did about subsidies for Ethanol. But to deny them the chance to explain how they will keep our sons, daughters, brothers, fathers, mothers, from harms way in Iraq is to me, rather important. I want to know how they will address the issue of people from foreign countries moving in, ILLEGALLY, and WHY MY TAX DOLLARS HAS TO PAY FOR THEIR HEALTH, EDUCATION, & WELFARE.

Is the Media that sponsored this debate protecting it’s advertisers? You know, the huge corporations that are making BILLIONS OF DOLLARS off the battles in Iraq? Or the companies who IMPORT THESE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to maintain a LOW WAGE BASE, and wind up with CHEAP LABOR so they can RAKE IN MORE PROFITS?

Is that why the moderator said they wouldn’t discuss or spend any appreciatable time discussing Iraq and Immigration?

I THINK SO.
