No Phone Calls, Please.

If the House passes one on Saturday, to go with the Senate’s Bill passed today, then Herr Bush can listen in on phone calls, without any Judicial Review. No Judge is needed to grant or agree to any wiretap, for the next six months, all in the name of battling those evil Terrorists. Screw the rule of law, (see comment ‘Ignoring Rule of Law‘) and US Constitution, because Herr Bush has decreed it important, necessary, and vital for National Security.
Yeah right, and Iraq was building Nuclear Weapons too.
The Bush administration began pressing for changes to the law after a recent ruling by the secret FISA court that barred the government from eavesdropping on foreign suspects whose messages were being routed through U.S. communications carriers, including Internet sites. (source)
The Democrats were elected on several pledges, one was transparency of Government, another was to hold Bush accountable. So, here we are, about to have the summer holidays for Congress, and what has this Democratic Congress Accomplished?
Well, the Wiretaps without Judicial review/approval is passed.
Minimum Wage finally was implemented.
Troops continue to fight in Iraq with still no clear plan for what is Victory and what isn’t.
Borders remain insecure, and in fact wide open.
Veto threats loom over adding 8 million children to receiving health care.
A Million lead tainted toys for toddlers are recalled, while Congress continues to do nothing about improving standards for both food and toys, while imports from China continue to rise in leaps and bounds.
Gonzales is still the Attorney General.
Two Border Guards remain in Prison, while Johnny Sutton does the talk show circuit, but not the House of Representative hearings.
The Mathew Shepard law remains in limbo, after being tacked on to a war spending bill with a timetable. Like that was gonna pass.
Deal was reached to violates everyone’s privacy with the EU (see comment ‘Say ‘Seig Hiel‘)
Man, I sure hope Congress has a nice summer holiday, don’t you? They worked so hard, accomplished so much, that they maybe should take an extra few weeks off. I mean maybe then they’ll come back with an even worse Immigration Reform Plan.
