I suppose that I am a bit jaded, when it comes to politicians. Specially as it applies to the influx of American Style politics up here, but I wonder, have these people like Harper, Bush, Romney, Reid, Pelosi, ever asked themselves why? Why do so many abroad object to the United States policies, or to why plans simply fail to work for them? Yet if implemented by other nations, they seem to?

Take the Middle East.

Lebanon is on the verge of Civil War, again, Palestine is in a Civil War, and well then we do have Iraq, and Afghanistan. Have the Politicians who call Generals Incompetent, who demand that troops be withdrawn, or those who advocate staying the course, even bothered to glance up at the region around them? Do they even care, or is it about corporate profits, and a nice pension plan for them, once their time in public life is over?

You have to wonder, given at how botched the situation is in the Middle East. I mean it was the United States who pushed Israel to withdraw from the West Bank, Gaza, to allow free elections to be held, assuring them it would all lead to a quicker peace. Israel listened, (and I really wonder why) and hey guess what, Hamas became the Political Force of the day, threatening the hold Abbas and Fatah had.

Anyone with an ounce of sense, could have seen that one coming. The US however, seemed devoid of any sense, or is it simply pig headedness? Maybe that is it, the arrogance that they exhibit has rubbed many the wrong way, and you have to wonder, when will they accept their own responsibility for what they have caused?

It was Jimmy Carter who insisted on letting the Ayatollah back into Iran. Today Iran threatens the world with a possible Nuclear Weapons System nearing completion. Never mind how they are backing Hezbollah and Hamas with weapons, training, and money. And he says Bush is out of touch? Where was his brains when he helped put the current regime in Iran in power?
It was Bush who pushed for the free elections in Palestine, and now we have Hamas in control over Gaza, Fatah in the West Bank, and Condoleeza Rice is making phone calls? Tell me, just what is the Foreign Policy of the Bush Administration other than to ’stay the course’, which hasn’t worked since it took office nearly 7 years ago.

The Lebanese Conflict accomplished nothing, and one has to wonder, with all the support given to the Saudis, Kuwait and others, where is the political payoff? Why are these countries not helping to bridge the gap, or is it that they also have their foot dangling next to the extremists? Are they cosing up with Iran and Syria?

Why are the Russians not stepping in? Could it be because to them, America is still being perceived as a threat? I mean just cause George wants interceptor missiles right on the Russian Border, that shouldn’t get them pissed, should it?

How about China? I mean the USA is one of the biggest consumers of Chinese products, even if it is tainted, or made from slave labor. Hell most of the USA debt is owned by China, so what if they are tripling their military forces, and no longer years behind the US in technology? After all, they wouldn’t want to see their biggest consumer get over run would they?

This is the problem. America seems to be looking everywhere but where the issues are. Harry Reid talks about bringing the troops home. Okay, fair enough, but what does he offer in its place? Does he offer keeping a large number in Kuwait in case they are needed again? He talks about redeployment, about strategic relocation, but to where? And what does Hilary say about it all? She likes Bush for his Immigration debacle, but now opposes his Iraq policy, but what is hers other than to try and get her vote of support changed on the record?

What are their plans? Do they have any? Or do they even care about the mess they have created abroad?

It is one thing to bring down a regime, like the Communists of Russia, quite another to allow it to rear its head again. The invasion of Iraq was for what? Oil or was Bush really that frightened by an imagined threat by Iraq?

Seems that this summer, things are heating up and I wonder, will we escape a global conflagration, or will it all spill over once more? A lot may depend on who wins in 2008, if things hold together that long, but so far, it doesn’t seem to matter who wins.

None of them seem to be willing to accept, that they are responsible. Iraq, Lebanon, or Russia, doesn’t matter. They all raise their hands, at casting the blame anywhere, but where it belongs.

On their Shoulders.
