I often wonder, why do people hate so much these days?

Is it frustration at their lives, or at their position in life? I mean do we hate because we are upset or because we are afraid of someone or something? Take Gays, why do so many hate us? Do we go out and recruit them to follow in our footsteps? Do we flaunt our life in such a way that makes others fear us? I mean you don’t see a whole slew of Gays marching carrying machine guns shouting for the downfall of the USA or such, so why do so many hate us?

Was Stephen Harper or Vic Toews approached when they were young or something that they are hell bent on denying us any chance of normalcy in our own country? I mean we serve in the military, with distinction as well as not, and the armed forces haven’t fallen apart because of it, so why are Stephen Harper and his klansmen out to deny us equal protection under the law?

Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper is denying reports that his government is preparing legislation that would allow public officials to refuse to issue marriage licenses or perform civil ceremonies for same-sex couples.

The Globe and Mail on Wednesday reported that Harper’s government, facing likely defeat of a measure to reopen the issue of same-sex marriage, would bring in the legislation. ( full story )

The Defence of Religion bill as its being touted, has a nice sounding ring to it, but frankly is totally uncalled for. Our basic consitution and human rights legislation insures that Canadians can worship as they please, making the need for this bill redunant. However, that would be assuming this piece of legislation was about defending one’s right to worship as they please. It Isn’t.

What this Hate Bill really does is allow people the freedom to Hate and Abuse a minority group of this country. It really is that simple, as the Bill would enable groups to simply quote an outdated collection of words to inspire hatred of others. Churches today have no need of such a Bill, they are allowed to put forward their beliefs without fear of Hate Crime Prosecution, but what this proposed Bill does is take it further, giving that same right to individuals and businesses to deny equality to a minority but basing it on religious grounds.

It is a crock of shit really.

It is like during WWII you could claim relgiious conviction as a means of avoiding the draft. However, to claim it you had to prove it. In short simply saying your religion didnt allow you to join the Army wasn’t enough. You had to prove you were a regular attendee, that you followed the precepts in your life up to that time, not that you simply opted to suddenly become religious. Made sense for WWI, WWII, and Korea.

This new bill changes all that. Suddenly anyone who hates or opposes the Gay Life, can freely bash Gays, advocate their demise and in general bully them with all the abuse they can muster.

Toews would not go into specifics of the bill but the paper quoting unnamed sources said that the legislation would protect churches, individuals and socially conservative groups from human rights complaints. ( full story )

In short this creates a climate of fear and will more than likely result in increased attacks on Gays and Lesbians all over the country, as more bigots can spout off without fear of the law coming after them. It degrades our values which is ironic in that Stephen Harper and his Klansmen claim to be returning our country to good old fashioned values. What values?

Those of Hatred, Racism, and Bigotry?

When were those values laudable?

Just as the Racists in America have usurped the Republican Party for their own agenda of Hate, they have usurped the Conservative Party in Canada. Fortunately enough Canadians were able to see through the veil of fancy words and titles and NOT give Harper sufficient power or strength, but can we continue to hold out against such evil?

Attack Ads, and Hate Ads abound in the USA and that is what Stephen Harper has brought to Canadian politics, but hopefully come the next election it will end his regime of hate and intolerance.

Under existing laws, Churches have the right to not perform same sex marraige. I have no problem with that, as it should be that way. What I do have a problem with is to allow anyone the right to deny me equal rights simply because I am Gay. No business has the right to deny me employment because I am Gay, no person has the right to deny me living accomodation because I am Gay, that is just plain Morally Wrong, and yet that is what Stephen Harper and Vic Toews wish to allow, with their Defence of Religion legislation.

Why the fuss you ask?

Simple really, once you start to erode the rights of minorities, irrespective of your feelings for them, eventually you erode the rights of all. Hitler did that very nicely and we all saw how it evolved, to the point where he attempted to exterminate an entire race of people. Vic Toews is no different than Himmler in his attempt to get rid of Gays from what he pretends is the purity of race. Stephen Harper has no problem with that concept and this bill proves it.

This isn’t about insuring that the rights of those who are uncomforatble with Dave and Myslef being married, it is about insuring that only a select few can receive the full protection under Canadian Law, and that is just wrong. I would be just as upset if this bill was aimed at Protestants or Anglicans. No group, no minority should be thrown to the wolves or be subject to abuse simply because a select group are uncomfortable with their natural path of life.

We have clearly seen how this plays out too, by simply looking south at the current mess in the United States. Where being Gay is still being touted as a disease by many powerful people, where a nation is so galvanized with fear and hatred, that universities agree to allow hate signs on campus like at Georgia Tech (see story).

Is this the way we truly wish our Country to become?

I support fiscal responsiblity, I support transparent Government, but i DO NOT SUPPORT HATRED! That is not a conservative attitude nor is it a HUMAN PRINCIPLE and yet here is Stephen Harper and Vic Toews running around attempting to creat just that, a nation filled with Hatred and Bullies.

Look at all the school shootings in the States? Is that what we want up here? Is It?

It is a danger signal that bullying has gotten out of hand, and yet here is our Justice Minister wanting to give individuals the right to hate me, simply because he does. He wants to allow others to take the low road instead of doing what is right, which is to insure that ALL minorities receive equal protection under the Law.

This is the real plan of Stephen Harper and his Klansmen who have hijacked the Conservative party, thanks to the sell out of MacKay and it has to make Sir John A cringe in his grave at how his party has become one of intolerance, hatred, and racism.

Three-quarters of students surveyed across America said that over the past year they heard derogatory remarks such as “faggot” or “dyke” frequently or often at school, and nearly nine out of ten  reported hearing “that’s so gay” or “you’re so gay” – meaning stupid or worthless – frequently or often. This is the result of NOT HAVING a tough Anti Hate Law, something we currently DO HAVE. THis is what Stephen Harper wants us to have and frankly, it is wrong. These are the future and look at how it is working in the States, Look Closely and then ask yourself, ‘Do We Want That Here?’

I have faith in my fellow Canadians and in God, that when it comes to Parliament, the opposition will turf it, then it will be up to us, and God Willing, Stephen Harper and his Racism will be banished from this nation, thrown into the dustbin where hatred and intolerance belongs.  God Willing.

You know, in some ways it is funny. I mean I would stand on any street corner defending Harper’s right to belief  as he chooses, I would write against anyone who would deny him equal protection under the law, I would oppose any party that wanted to limit his rights to be who he is, and yet, Stephen Harper wants to take all that away from me, he doesn’t know me, doesn’t even know my name, so Why?

Why does he hate me and Dave so much?
