Well this is it isn’t it?

Today the final rhetoric will rebound from coast to coast as the parties wind up the election campaign that shouldn’t be. Yes, it shouldn’t have been forced by the Conservatives and NDP until after Feb when the Gomery report was final and released so we could know the FULL DETAILS of the report, instead of having to endure endless attack ads by Harper and his Klan.

Perhaps then too we wouldn’t have to endure endless snide remarks by Duceppe, Layton, Harper and even Martin on the whole sponsorship bullshit but instead concentrated on the real issues of governing a nation as diverse as Canada.

Perhaps then we might have had a campaign about differences in policy, in programs, and in leadership instead of endless ads from them all that really tell me or any voter much of anything.

Perhaps we wouldn’t have the fear gripping many either that Harper and his Klan of religious fanatics might win, not a minority but a majority government.

Why the fear of Harper winning?

Let me see, he promises to eliminate the tax cut for personal income tax the Liberals have been gradually implementing, which puts real money into the pockets of working families and people. Something Harper’s proposed GST cut does NOT do. $240 odd dollars in 5 years isn’t real money, $2000 odd as the Liberal cut gives us REAL MONEY.

Harper wants to REMOVE equal rights for a segment of our society because of his irrational fear and hatred for those who are different than his perception of people. At least the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc are able to put those fears aside and do What Is Right.

Harper wants to place our troops into the middle of the USA Oil War in Iraq, the others don’t. And it isn’t just putting troops at risk in a war that cannot be won, but at the resulting hatred it will generate among many muslim nations, leading Canada to become a target just as Britain has become.

Harper wants to negotiate away hard won victories in the trade disputes with the Americans. We won the softwood lumber dispute by keeping to our word and by following the established procedures to resolve those disputes. Now the only thing we need to negotiate is how quickly the USA pays back its illegal gained duties. Harper wants to put that on the table for improved relations, which really means giving the Americans the 4 Billion Dollars… not my idea of negotiations.

The Liberals have gotten an agreement with all provinces for a national day care program which Harper wants to scrap. Now it isn’t the best solution in an ideal world but you try to get 10 different regions to agree on something that unique, that universal and compromise is the order of the day, yet Mr Harper wants to eliminate it in favour of his own plan of giving every one with a kid under 6 $1200 a year. Course he doesnt play up the fact that this $1200 gift is also TAXABLE INCOME… so take off 16% minimum to see just how much you really get for daycare.

Least the Liberal plan helps working families and single parents, while all the Harper plan is, is a tax grab and phoney plan to garner votes, just as his GST credit and Bus Pass Credit plans are. They have no real substance, they have no real possible impact on allowing people to spend more or ride buses more. In short, just a PR gimmick.

Two Tier health care (as the conservatives propose) will in a bare bones plan cost those who can afford it at least $350 a month in insurance premiums, making insurance companies rich, give doctors more money while sucking the working person dry.

It will force working families to choose between food and health care, it will force families to seek two full time jobs which in turn will lead to kids left alone at home or placed in daycare adding an additional financial burden on families who can least afford it.

It will place seniors and low income people into sub standard health services that will be gutted. Anyone who can add can see that is true but if you can’t add, then look simply to the United States to see just how good the two tier system is.

Remember too, once you add a two tier system as Harper proposes, it will cost 100 times more to revert back, if you can revert back to universal care. When the horses leave the stable, not too easy to get them back inside.

The hours are ticking away on this, our most important federal election in decades. It is a cross roads for this country and I am praying that my fellow citizens will realize that Stephen Harper and Klan are not the choice to make. Harper’s ideals are not Canadian ideals.

We can see how caring a ultra conservative government is for its less fortunate citizens by simply looking at Stephen Harpers idols… the Republican Party, George Bush, and the Ultra Right Wing Christian Groups. Look at how they responded to when poor people were hit by a hurricane and how they are even today, months later, helping them…. then look at how Canada responds to the needs of its poor… do we really want to change that to the American system?

If we vote Tory, then that is what we will get.
