'Pick It up.' Sweat trickled its way over Calum's already-gleaming chest. From the floor, he blinked up into the darkness, searching for the face behind the voice. 'Pick it up and stroke it.' Jamie's voice filled the Black Chamber and echoed in Calum's throbbing head. His shaking hands made contact with the greased length of carved wood, and the throb became a pulse between his tensed thighs. His guardian's voice was low, hoarse with anticipation. 'Now take it.' Educated at the court of George II, Calum Monroe finds his native Scotland a dull, damp place. He relieves his boredom by donning a mask and holding up coaches in the guise of The Fox - a dashing highwayman. But Calum's guardian - James Black - is far more sinister than his ward's alter ego, and his current scheme may force neighbouring famrer Fergie McGregor to sell his land.
Chance throws Calum and Fergie together, but they are separated by James Black's plans. Each has to endure the humiliations and dark pleasures of the Black Chamber, before the cruel master can be defeated in the uprising - an uprising that brings a Stuart king to reclaim his throne.
